I was a customer at the salon for about a year and a half before I decided to switch to a different salon.
Unfortunately, my preferred salon is closed on Sundays and I desperate needed a manicure. For this reason, I decided to return to Southie Nail Bar as I remembered their work was of good quality with some of the technicians.
I scheduled a Gel X manicure and when I got there, they continued to ask me if I wanted Gel X or something else although I had already said Gel X. Then, I asked my technician if we could do a design and I showed her picture of it. She said yes one moment and proceeded to take my phone to show the picture to the manager and other technicians without asking for permission. I could see them all explaining to her how to do the design. My issue is not with her asking but with her taking my phone and already agreeing to do something she did not know how to do.
Then, she came back with my phone and proceeded to start taking off my previous nail products. I had told her that I had polygel on my nails which is similar to acrylic. She then asked another technician to ask me what I had on my nails. She continued to use the dremmel drill while looking at the other technician which caused her to burn me multiple times.
Then she started putting the gel on my nails again, which was weird because she did not clean my cuticles or prepare my nail bed apart from putting the dehydrator on. I interrupted her and asked her to please clean up my cuticle and other dead skin around my nails. She proceeded to do it with force and very quickly.
She completed the design, which looks good but I am not going to the salon to tell someone else how to do their job or to be hurt while I am trying to relax. My technician also didn’t know what to charge me for and another technician told her what to charge me. The Gel X manicure is supposed to be 70 but I ended up paying 95 plus tip without explanation on the price.
Again, the nails looks nice now but I was vigilant the whole appointment so they were up to my standards. Now I definitely remember why I stopped going there

Don’t go here- I got GelX done on Sunday. I paid $76 (the most I’ve ever paid for GelX) and $14 tip. The next day, the nail tip on my thumb fell off. I was frustrated I had to pay $20 in Ubers and other tip to get my nail repaired that was done not even two days prior. This morning (the third day after the original set was put on) two more nails just popped off. Additionally, my thumb nail is lifting again. I called an asked for a refund and they refused and said they would fix the nail…but I’ve seen how that goes. I cannot afford to be out over $100 for nails that last shorter than $6 press ons from Target. Clearly this business has no intention of building good will with their customers— in my opinion, it feels like a scam.

An amazing experience!

I’m completely new to getting my nails done, only on rarely on special occasions, but now I’m convinced to come back for another set sometime in the future.

The store is very clean and organized with upbeat pop music and a beautiful main area. While I had scheduled an appointment online, they were flexible with me coming in a little bit late.

My nail tech, Meagan, was really sweet and polite. She was always gentle with my hands and when handling my nails. She helped explained different nail styles when I had questions and was super patient with my requested nail art. It took about roughly an hour and a half.

Thank you so much for the joyful experience!

Worst time. From them ignoring me when I came in and then getting my nails wrong twice in one session. It was disappointing because I’ve been there two times before. I was ignored and stared at when I came in and had to wait awhile past my booked appointment time. I wanted acrylic and they tried to give me gel x. Then I gave my design to my nail tech and he painted it wrong and when done I found mistakes and some of my nails were not painted all the way. It was a rushed job, my nails are not going to last. Not worth 130. I hate that I even paid that much for this, something my lil sister could do. All the while I keep getting looks from the nail tech next to my nail tech. Didn’t feel comfortable at all. Not the best time. I used to like coming here. Dissatisfied

An absolutely horrible experience:
– salon is filthy and they do not sterilize tools
– manicure lasted 15 minutes and the employee was actively on her phone ordering food throughout it
– polish is all over my hands
– my nails were filed down to the skin without my permission
– she grabbed a dirty bowl from the sink and filled it with cold water to soak my hands

I called asking for a refund, they refused. I will never be returning.
