Nail Tek in Birmingham AL

I had never been to this nail place before but decided to go because I knew they had two kids pedicure chairs. I called in advance to make an appointment for a pedicure for my 3 yo daughter and her 5 yo friend, as well as myself, and was told no problem. I showed up with the kids on time for the appointment but three people walked in ahead of me. I don’t know if they had appointments or not but we waited for over 45 minutes before anyone even acknowledged that we had been waiting. I had to forfeit my treatment because it took so long for them to actually get to the girls that we were nearly late to get my other daughter from daycare. When I call ahead and get an appointment, especially when I have kids with me, I expect to wait no more than 10 minutes. I couldn’t leave because I had promised them these pedicures – had it been just me, I would have left. It was an all around frustrating experience and I won’t go back.

This place is amazing!! Everyone was so friendly and chatting with them made our visit so fun. The pedicure I got was wonderful. The leg massage put my boyfriend to sleep. Wine included! I will definitely be visiting again!

PLEASE BEWARE!!! I wish I had read the reviews before I visited. This business appears to have racist practices when it comes to certain customers. I went to get a manicure and pedicure. I was the only African American within the company. The other 7 patrons were white. They appeared to be having a great experience. I told the nails tech recommendations of extra services and had a rushed experience. While sitting getting a pedicure the nail tech came over and started during my manicure while standing up. I was so confused and asked why I couldn’t enjoy the expensive pedicure I purchased and then transition to the manicure station as is normal behavior. I was told that this way was find and to relax. The women performing the pedicure also stopped 4 times to start working on other clients and the women doing the manicure, at the same time, would then start doing my toes. Soooo unprofessional. I expressed my issues with feeling rushed and stopping on me to start on several other clients. I was simply told “Sorry you feel that way”. I expected better for a nail spa in the Mountain Brook community. I DEFINITELY WILL NOT RETURN.

I was thrilled to learn Nail Tek has a dissolvant that takes off the gel polish. Sunshine was the tech for my nails, and she was efficient and nice.

I really hate to leave a bad review since the owner seems to be very nice but after discovering that I was indeed overcharged I feel like I have no choice. This is my second time to the shop the first time was an excellent experience. Anna did my pedicure it was excellent, very professional and it was well done. she was very nice and took me immediately and finished in a timely manner. It’s a beautiful shop.

Last Friday I went to the shop and got a deluxe pedicure and full set of SS dip nails. The pedicure was fine, it was done by the owner Lisa. I have no complaints although I have had deluxe pedicures that included more than this particular one did and cost about $10 less.

The problems arose when I sat down to receive my manicure and full set of ss nails. The girl was rude she barely spoke to me and seemed to be irritated that she had been assigned to put on my nails. She throughout the hour or so, she spoke Vietnamese to the owner and made disgruntled faces and gestures. She jerked my hand multiple times and even cut me three times and left cuticle residue on several finger nails. They are thick and appear grown out now, after just three days and the shape is very odd on several of them.

They are the worst looking nails I’ve ever had put on and when I went to check out she told me my charge was $139 without the tip. The pedicure was supposed to be 54 and the nails 55. I even confirmed this today by calling back and asking the price. So I was overcharged $40 and then I added on a $40 tip making the total cost $ 179. I understand in the grand scheme of things if you have a perfect experience some may be willing to pay that but that is not the correct charge the girl was extremely rude throughout the session and acted like she was being forced to do them. Cut me multiple times and the finished product was just horrible (not squared like I asked) and then to boot she overcharged me. I will not be going back. It was a waste of my time and money, and now I have to get these taken off and correct ones put on.
