I love Nail Envy! I used to go to a nearby salon, but the owner (a very cool guy) won me over one night before Thanksgiving, working me in with someone late. The place was clean, had an upbeat vibe, and everyone was very friendly. I’ve been going there ever since and everyone in there is great. I am kind of partial to Vivian though… if only I could schedule a 30 minute massage with her. My manicures & pedicures look brand new for 2 weeks- I highly recommend it!

After being declined service at a nearby nail salon (likely in a racially-motivated circumstance), I arrived at Nail Envy around 5:45pm on a Monday evening in a last-ditch effort to address a fingernail issue I experienced ahead of a crucial business meeting. I was greeted warmly by the staff and asked what service I was seeking. After responding that I was seeking a gentleman’s manicure. The owner came out and told me that if I was willing to wait about 20 minutes, I could be seen. I was OK with that and took a seat. I only waited 8 minutes before a nail technician had me in her chair and was going about the work of repairing the fingernail issue via a gentleman’s manicure. She was very professional and engaged me in pleasant conversation, even going as far as commending me for the excellent overall care of which I keep my hands and fingernails. It only took her about 20 minutes to complete the service and I was walking out about 30 minutes after I walked in. I left her a quality tip for the service. If there is ever a need for a manicure (or even a pedicure) during my business trips and visits to the Greater Birmingham area, Nail Envy will be my go-to place.

Kinda expensive $20 just to wax eyebrows… That I still had to pluck stray hairs afterwards 😕

This is the last time I will go to this nail salon, I started going five years ago, and the service was superb. After being absent two years, I was living out of state. I walked in today, and just asked a simple question after the owner told me to pick my color so I could get my nails done: “Are these all the colors you’ve got?” And the owner, who was doing a clients nails, replied back: “Are these all the colors I’ve got ( in a sarcastic tone of voice, looked at his client and rolled his eyes at me, and then his client looked at him and also rolled her eyes…Well, I said: I’m sorry, I am looking for a lighter color. Unfortunately, the owner forgot what customer service means. I apologized, after he rolled his eyes, but he did not acknowledge my apology. I don’t know, I got confused, and though he used to have more colors. I don’t have to apologize, I am the client…I am paying for a service, and I was not being mean. Then, came the manicure…Oh well, the lady that did my nails is a very nice lady, but, barely massage my arms, did not take that much cuticle out…I mean, a waste of money and of my time. A manicure is supposed to be a moment to be relax, instead I left angry. Like I said: “last time” this is about a mile from my house, but rather go somewhere else…NOT WORTH IT!!!
