EDIT: They refunded me after speaking with their customer service. I was definitely really upset with their service, hence the harsh review, but they were very accommodating and apologetic for what happened. They also mentioned that they are taking steps to improve their scheduling so hopefully that actually gets implemented.

So I ended up with nails that glow in the dark (didn’t ask for) and the entirely wrong color.
Imagine my surprise when I had a night light on my hands. I got them done yesterday before I go out of town and two nails are already falling off.
Probably the worst experience I’ve had at a nail salon in 10+ years across 4 states.

They also have super strange rules that show they don’t care at all about your experience, and are just there to take your money. Go somewhere that actually treats you with hospitality and respect instead of trying to money grab.

1) Be aware that they don’t honor any customer requests the day of, if you don’t tell them ahead of time they simply won’t do it.

I wanted to add tips on the day of, something that every nail tech should know and be able to do, and they said I needed to put down a DEPOSIT because it’s “artificial” and that my nail tech doesn’t know how to do it.
My friend even pre-booked a French manicure and the nail tech said she “didn’t have time”
Even requesting to sit with my friend was a whole thing.

2) Be aware that not only do they have a 3.5% charge on card (stated on their website), the front desk lady said that there’s a $2 off for cash but then proceeded to charge me a whole $11 more on card. Doesn’t add up. Didn’t even mention if it included tip – no receipt given. At this point I didn’t even care & I didn’t even bother arguing.

3) They’re super rushed. They work their nail techs like nobody’s business and before I was even done with my appointment the front desk came up to tell her about the next.
The nail tech was nice but she didn’t even look at what color I showed her. She just assumed the color she chose was close enough, which it wasn’t. Turns out my nails GLOW IN THE DARK??? Literally just a random dip she chose. They’re also wildly bulky.

I got my nails done for a week long vacation. After leaving the salon I noticed there were gaps between my real nail and the tips, but overall they looked good and I didn’t want to complain. 3 days in to my trip, 1 nail broke off and 2 more broke the following day. I called to ask if there was anything they could do for me the day I left my vacation, and I was told since it was past a week they could no longer fix them free of charge. I explained that I was on vacation in a different state, and they still offered me no other form of compensation. The service I got was dip with tips and chrome, and the total was $95 before tip. I already find that to be a little steep, and for the nails to not even last more than 3 days is ridiculous for that price. No hate to the girl who did my nails because she was very nice and clearly was trying to do them well, but I wish I would have had a more accommodating experience considering I was in a different state and unable to come in within the 7 day period.

After many disappointing mke-area nail appointments, Nail Bar was a most welcome change.

My artist was accommodating and cheerful, and created one of my favorite sets to date. I wanted to try gel-x nails for the first time and she took her time fitting them well and answering my questions. While a bit pricey, I believe it is well worth the cost, as the results exceeded expectations.

UPDATE : Nail Bar MKE reached out to me directly and offered to come in and re-do my nails free of charge. Odelisa did my nails the second time and did a fantastic job. They lasted about 9 days without any chips. I appreciate the follow-up and ability to fit me in Christmas week.

Eh. I’ve been coming to Nail Bar MKE (Walker’s Point location) for years now. They’ve been with me through so many stages of my life – graduation photos, engagement photos, my wedding, etc. Took my entire bridal party here before my wedding and it’s such a fun and beautiful location and really conducive to groups.

Recently, I’ve been quite disappointed with the level of service provided. For example, I got my nails done on Friday with their gel/no-chip and by Monday (when this picture was taken), I had chips on 3/5 fingers on my right hand and one on my left. They are reasonably priced compared to other Milwaukee places, but at this point, it’s not worth $40 to get my nails done for them to chip so quickly. I have had this experience the last three times I’ve visited (December 2023, August 2023, and May 2023). Despite being a long-time visitor here, I will likely find somewhere else to go because I have had a disappointing experience the last three times.

Shari is the best! I recently moved here and needed a great nail tech for my acrylics, and Shari kills it every time. My appointments are always started on time and I feel very taken care of.
