Customer Reviews:
She has had gel manicures for years and never had any issues. While visiting family in Palmer, she went to get a gel manicure at Ya Ya Nails from the owner. She called ahead and made an appointment, especially since it’s COVID and she wanted to ensure it was open and available. On the phone she confirmed that the owner knew how to do gel. She wasn’t told on the phone or on the website that it was cash only, but the owner said she could bring cash later. My mom did come back and pay her AND left a tip out of habit, but I’m not sure that I would have done so based on the experience.
From the beginning, it was clear that the owner did not actually know how to do a gel manicure. Unfortunately, she ended up stripping my moms nails, providing a painful and destructive experience. It also took 2 hours and she was the only customer. 2 days later, nails were splitting and polish was chipping. My mom called to see about getting this fixed and was told that the owner wasn’t available for another week or so. About a week later, my mom called back to explain how awful this experience was and that her nails were breaking, splitting and just plain unhealthy at the point. She didn’t trust the owner to fix this and said that she wouldn’t be going back. My mom was polite and straightforward about this, while the owner on the phone was not really apologetic or concerned. In my mind, it would have been clear that as an owner, she wants to provide good customer service and would have asked my mom to come back and she would fix it for free. There was no such offer. At the same time, I’m not sure that she really could have fixed this or if my mom would have wanted her to try.
It’s been a month and my mom has been to her usual cosmetologist, who was horrified at the state of her nails. As she said, “any licensed manicurist should have been able to do this well, and she clearly didn’t.”
Not only was this a painful, unhealthy experience for my mom, but the owner did not try to make this right. I would not recommend going here for a gel manicure, and can’t speak to any other service at this establishment.
