Horrible experience. If you want to get your nails done like this you should go to your local Claire’s and ask the cashier to do your nails with costume nail polish. They use old nail polish most likely due to the fact the place was empty. Like most places they do use thinner to stretch the length of polish however they did discuss infront of me that the kind they use does not work with all their polishes. I am no scientist but it is common knowledge that when you add ingredients to something that changes the compound of what now have. I have been getting my nails done in salons since i was 5 years old, with regular nail polish and have never before had a salon service manicure still moving 8 hours past my appointment time. The customer service is extremely lacking in this scenario as they have refused any type of refund and have become combative in their tone and even told me to “google it” when it comes to nail polish drying time. I would love to see either of the women who did my nails certificates as this service was absolutely horrendous. I will not be returning to allow them to “rectify” the situation by slopping more old polish on my nails and wasting my valuable time at this establishment.

Extremely disappointed. Didn’t realize it until I got home, but I had a 15% discount that was not applied. It was originally, but the service had to change because the technician was too afraid to do the service requested because of my cuticle state– that she sort of induced by being too harsh on them. As soon as I got home, the polish started coming off of my right hand. I shouldn’t have to pay for gel to have a lasting manicure.

Very impressed, and probably one of the better pedicures I’ve gotten in Charleston! I have had a slew of sub-par pedis lately at various places around town. I used to go to this location when it was the Water Room, but it fell off my radar after it changed ownership, and I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about the waterless thing. Well after reading an article about how much gross bacteria is harbored in all of those jets, I immediately remembered Varnish Lane and booked an appointment. I didn’t miss the water at all! The facility is VERY clean, and I even noticed the receptionist wiping down the entire chair with a disinfectant wipe after guests left, which was very impressive. It was a very professional experience from start to finish, and my toes and feet have never looked better! It is a very calm and relaxing environment and wonderful not to be exposed to all those nasty chemicals. 10/10!

This was my first visit. I love this salon; it’s clean and peaceful and the staff is great. I received a Luxe pedi from Patricia (hope I got the name right). The waterless procedure is really good, moisturizing and earth friendly.
I can honestly say this is the best pedicure I’ve had in quite sometime.
