I feel so bad writing a poor review because my nail tech was sweet but my manicure is noooot it. I know Vanity Projects for their artistry so I figured my request — natural looking Gel-X in one color — would be no problem. I have super brittle natural nails that don’t grow out well so I really wanted my manicure to look natural.
Unfortunately, my nails are different lengths, filed unevenly, and don’t look like the reference pictures I showed. Again, my tech was sweet but I don’t think I received a lot of attention to detail. Have to fix this at home. Won’t go back 🙁
Edit: Now that I’m home I can say this definitely ruined my day lol. They’re so bad it’d be hilarious if I hadn’t looked forward to this all week

Cuticles are very thick and uneven which ruins the look of the manicure. Couldn’t tell how bad it was until looking at it with polish in normal light. My artist claimed my skin got red when she cut further—applying lotion before the manicure, soaking the nail and using cuticle softener solves this. There was no lotion application during this manicure at all which is essential when you have dry skin like mine (& they request you to wash your hands-stripping moisture). Since my manicure was 30 min late they offered to give me 10% off. At checkout they basically rescinded this offer “because my deposit was already taken”…huh? I said don’t you always take deposits? My implication being how did they plan to offer me 10% off in the first place? They said yes and they’ll just apply it to my next service. I said I don’t live in nyc. And they just kind of repeated that they don’t want to refund the deposit and then charge a new amount. Will definitely not be going back here. If you have a thick eponychium on some of your nails you definitely have to remove it yourself before you go.

I have never had a bad experience here and have been coming since at least 2019. The artists at Vanity Projects are extremely talented and kind. Whether you get one of their specials or show them your own creation, you will leave happy!

Vanity Projects is my new obsession! My nails are looking incredible these days thanks to Misako’s care and attention to detail. Their methods of using hard gel have helped my nails avoid breaking and have kept the length I’ve always dreamed of having. I’ve taken advantage of their monthly specials for two months in a row now and literally can’t stop staring at my nails. They’ve NEVER looked this good. The first design lasted four weeks and still looked good when I went in for a change.
I’ve already recommended this place to two friends who are loving the styles they’ve gotten. I can’t recommend them highly enough!
