Customer Reviews:
I received a gift certificate not too long after that and went and met Val. She is patient and amazing as some of my fingers are twisted due to arthritis. She does acrylics for me and I always leave impressed that my hands can look so nice for a few weeks!
If they ever have an opening, grab it quick!
First, I will start out by saying that I rarely post reviews, let alone negative ones. Second, I would like to say that this seems as though this is an isolated incident for this salon. I have friends and family who rave about this place and I’m inclined to trust their feedback. However, this was my first time here and I was scheduled for a dip french tip manicure with Becky. I will preface this by saying that I have been getting dip manicures every two to three weeks for years now so I know a quality dip manicure when I see one. Unfortunately, this was not a positive experience. I was out of town and could not go to my regular nail tech—big mistake!
From the moment I walked in, Becky was unfriendly. She did not greet me kindly and that already made me feel like turning around. I previously had dip on my nails and Becky started soaking and removing my old dip the way I was typically accustomed to. However, she grew impatient with the soaking off process and after a bit of time, started to scrape off the dip from my nails with a metal tool and buffing it harshly with a buffing block which in turn damaged my nail bed and I saw layers of my nail come off a couple of times. When the old dip was finally removed, we started the application process. Becky then said to me that she was not going to do anything to my cuticles because they looked fine. However, they had not been pushed back or trimmed in over a month and definitely needed attention but I trusted her judgement considering the electric file usually removes some cuticle. Next, she started the dip application which was horrific. I have attached pictures of the end result. The french tips are all different shapes and widths from one another and many are crooked. Also, the dip was was not filed down enough so some of my nails look like I have a bubble on them. Also, while drilling my nails, the electric drill slipped out of her hands several times hitting my skin and creating small cuts around my nails which can cause infection because they are micro cuts.
I quickly realized that this salon had not offered dip manicures for long and that Becky was the only nail technician who offered the service. However, Becky admitted to me herself that she had just started offering this service. I understand that everyone has to start somewhere—no one is an expert overnight. However, the price should reflect accordingly or I should have at least been given a warning of this fact (I probably would have chosen a single color rather than french tip considering that’s a bit trickier with dip powder). However, I was not given this information and I was charged $55 for the service. The end result is terrible and I am going to my regular nail tech in a few days to redo my nails I just paid to have done. I believe it is ridiculously unprofessional for Becky to have seen the terrible result she put out and be okay with letting me walk out the door that way considering my nails are a direct reflection of her work. She saw them and was ok with letting this awful job reflect her craftsmanship. That’s disappointing.
My experience with Sarah, however, was incredible. She did a wonderful job on my pedicure and I would go back to her any day. However, I would not return here for a dip manicure. Please save your money and do not come here for a dip manicure!
