I drove an hour for a hair color appointment that I made six weeks ago. When I check in I am told that my stylist is sick, so I cannot get my hair colored today. I explained I drove an hour and it would have been nice to notify me before my appointment. The front desk said stylist was supposed to have. The stylist did not notify me.
They didn’t try to fix the situation or offer options. I asked if I could be seen by anybody else. They said no they are booked. And that was that!
Terrible customer service and lack of communication. If the salon can send notifications of upcoming appointments (which I receive) they should be able to notify when a stylist needs to cancel, especially when it’s an hour drive.

I had an unfortunate incident with the salon today. The service provided by my stylist, Danielle, has been very good since I started going to the salon six months ago. However, I can’t speak as positively about the salon operations.

Here’s the background. Apparently, I booked an appointment for Dec 11th in October and an appointment for Dec 20th in November. It was my mistake that only the Dec 20th appointment was put in my calendar. But, the receptionist booked the same service (a partial highlight) two weeks in row without making me aware of this double booking. Because I didn’t cancel today’s appointment within 24 hours, I was charged for the service.

I have two issues: (1) the salon sends out appointment reminders for Monday appointments on the weekend when they are closed so you can’t cancel an appointment without being charged. Why aren’t these reminders sent out on the prior Friday so their clients have time to cancel their Monday appointments?(2) the receptionist booked a highlight on Dec 20th when I already had the same exact service booked on Dec. 11th. Why didn’t she bring this to my attention? This entire situation could have been avoided had she brought to my attention that I had the same service booked two weeks apart. Why would I be getting a highlight two weeks in row?

I was charged the full amount, $115, for today’s highlight service because it is their policy that you pay for the service if you don’t cancel within 24 hours. I totally understand why they have this policy. I owned a salon. However, I disagree with how I was treated. I would have been happy to split the $115 since we both contributed to the problem. However, they would not budge from their policy. They also were very dismissive and rude when I broached them about the issue. I should mention that I show up for my scheduled appointments on time.

As I mentioned, the service is good but I generally have to wait a 10-15 minutes for my stylist (probably because they double book appointments), and they don’t treat their customers respectfully or appreciate the business. Needless to say, I won’t be returning to the salon.

Notice too that I don’t generally leave bad reviews. This one really irritated me.

The business as a whole has a tendency to mislead and even trick pricing. My first Custom Facial costed $85 plus tip, and I scheduled a second facial appointment for a month later. However, I woke up sick on the morning of the second appointment and called Mira to reschedule but was told that the second Custom Facial appointment was $163 (+$15 of additional eyebrow waxing) – almost double the price than expected! The receptionist on the phone (who had a very bad attitude) said that there will be a 50% deduction for same-day change in appointment, so I canceled the appointment feeling misled. A week later, I noticed that I was charged $178 on my credit card – i.e., 100% of the price, not 50% of the price. When I called them again, the manager said that it’s their policy to deduct 100% of the price for same-day cancellation and 50% for rescheduling – but the receptionist said none of that when I canceled! Again, I felt completely misled and tricked.

I hope the owner of this salon can see what the employees are posting online. There’s one here who continues to be rude and demeaning to people after they posted a video in the salon making faces and judging a client who was open about their box dye history. For the past 48 hours she’s been belittling anyone who disagrees with her in the comments. Extremely unprofessional behavior. I hope the next client in her chair for a color change doesn’t look like they’re talking to a character from Mean Girls.
