I went to have a fill done on a full set I had done somewhere else. I wanted a natural look (similar to what I had already). The tech, Sumer, didn’t listen to what I wanted. She kept trying to talk me into something else. Then when she did the fill she left a big gap between the acrylic and my cuticle. I politely showed it to her and she said she’d fix it (which to her meant filing it down, which only made the gap appear bigger). When I said again that there’s a large gap she then said she’d add more acrylic (which was frustrating since I had already been there a long time and had already told her there was a gap before she went through and filed everything down). She then said oh instead let’s just do a gel polish and you can pick a color. I didn’t want a color to begin with, I wanted a natural looking acrylic. But I was already there longer than I wanted so I chose a color. She did such a sloppy job painting the nails with big uneven gaps on the side and by my cuticle. She noticed too when I was looking at them and said she’d fix the gaps by doing another coat. Again she missed several sides. I was there a long time and walked away with mediocre nails I paid full price for that really wasn’t anything like I wanted. I will not go back. The entire time she complained about her personal life and it was such a downer time when I just wanted to have some self care. When she could tell I was frustrated about my nails, she just artificially kept complimenting me and it made me really uncomfortable. If you do go there, I’d avoid Sumer and ask for someone else.

Really bummed to have to write this. I’ve been living in midtown/downtown for the past five years. Melody salon has been my primary spot for nails and pedicures. However, In the past year, I’ve gotten a few sets done where for instance like 3 of my diamonds fell out within an hour. Knowing I had just gotten my nails done I wasn’t being rough on my nails. Upon returning, already inconvenienced they were requesting I come back. That was kind of frustrating as it just takes all but a minute to quickly apply another diamond.

But the experience I had almost two weeks ago was the last nail in the coffin.
I go in for a pedicure, the full experience, paraffin wax, the whole thing… I get a darker color. Decided to get waxing done (brows/lip/chin) and lastly decided on a ‘basic’ manicure- no color even. Employee 1 finishes my pedicure which was great. Employee 2 does my manicure and offers to buff INSTEAD of clear coat, I’m like great, more natural. After, Employee 2 takes me back for waxing, they have been doing my brows for the past few times and we had the shape looking immaculate. I do not like thin brows at all.

The salon had started to get busy and I could tell she was in a hurry. I walked out of there with one chola eyebrow and another so thin I wanted to cry. I go to pay, the total is $105 ($60 pedi/$25 wax/$15 mani) doing the math it should be $5 cheaper. I inquire and she indicates it’s a $5 charge to buff ($20 instead of $15)
But of course nothing was mentioned when she offered. I have never heard of a buff costing $5 and I’m pretty just confused.

So I pay and leave, and once in the car and I notice my pedicure color is literally super opaque, it’s a dark color and Employee 1 probably thought one coat was enough…

I finally go back because at least that can be fixed. I take a picture to show them. Instead of just simply saying OK Employee 1 has to go on and complain saying ‘it’s an iPhone picture it’s more clear and etc’. Genuinely so confused. Once I mention the buffing charge Employee 2 then grabs $5 and is lowkey chasing me playfully with it. It’s not about the money it’s about being informed of a charge you’re going to incur….. She then settles on giving me a brand new buffer. The whole interaction is embarrassing….

Why would I want to be back here in an establishment that just made the experience 3/10 and then questions me as if I’m trying to be difficult. The entire time I’m getting the toes fixed i felt really condescending energy.

I’m bummed because it’s so hard to find a place in Sacramento that doesn’t try and get over on you and now Melody Salon is in that category for me.

I have been coming to melody salon for about 6 years now as a regular customer. I always ask for Bella for my nails and she does a wonderful job!! She takes her time to do my gel manicure and is very precise! Everyone in that salon is hard working and does a good job!!

I have not been going very long. I’ve always had good experiences. This time I got the full treatment when I got a pedicure. My toes hurt a week later. She said I had ingrown toenails when I did not. Now I think I do. Hope they are not infected.
