I got an acrylic soak off and manicure. My appointment started a little late because she was finishing up a massage. I guess to make up for lost time, she rushed through the soak off. She underestimated how long my natural nails were and cut too deep. Nipping the tip of my thumb. My fingers feel all cut up. I do love the nail polish color and the quality of the manicure is great.

*update*

After removing the polish, I saw that my nails still had a thin layer of acrylic still on them. I’m so disappointed.

*final update*

Thank you to management for reaching out. I was invited back to the salon and had a better experience. All of the acrylic was removed gently and I received a relaxing manicure. They really do have a nice selection of colors for regular polish.

Cute nail salon. The person who did my gel pedicure painted on my skin and filed the nails inconsistently, shapes were different on both feet. The girl who did my gel x manicure did a nice job. The front desk girl is so cute and always checking on everyone to make sure everything was ok. She barely sat down the 4 hours I was there!

Got a gel mani/pedi with a callus remover. The pedi was great (hopefully it doesn’t lift) but the mani was subpar. I got home abt 2 hrs later and realized the gel was peeling off my nail. I’m so disappointed as I’ve been coming to them since they had started out. I guess I should’ve waited for Churrim who is AMAZING and never had this happen.

Other nails are lifting. They accommodated my nail fix for my one nail, but I highly doubt I can get 7 fingers fixed 🤦🏽‍♀️ you can see the darker areas are the gaps where the gel has detached from the nail bed

I had a great experience at Local Honey! I came in for a gel mani last week and unfortunately it didn’t meet my expectations. I got in touch with Local Honey, and they were super helpful and accommodating in helping me pick the right kind of mani for me (I swapped to SNS/dip) and re-doing the manicure without any hard feelings. Tsomo was so friendly and gave me a super meticulous nicely-shaped manicure which I’m sure will last for weeks. The space is also lovely, bright, and relaxing. I definitely recommend Local Honey!

I tried this place since it’s close to where I live. I had walked past their old location years ago and realized they moved even closer to me so I wanted to give it a try. I usually go to a salon near my office but I wanted to go in on a Saturday so this was the perfect chance. The salon itself is very nice, appears to be clean and the front desk woman was super friendly.
I got a gel manicure at 10 am which seemed to be the first appointment of the day. We started just a few minutes after 10 and I didn’t need a removal.
The nail prep was fine, but I wasn’t super happy with it. I still had hangnails after my appointment right along my nail. Typically those would get removed.
My main issue with the manicure was the polish application. My manicurist flooded my cuticle on a couple of nails with the gel polish. She did a decent job cleaning it up, but there were still lots of small areas of skin that had polish. I asked her to be sure it was removed, but once my fingers were under the lamp I could really see all the missed areas due to the bright color under the lamp. She did her best to file it off of my skin to remove any that cured. This is an issue for me because gel can be dangerous when cured on the skin. The flooding also resulted in uneven and bubbled application around my cuticles after she removed the excess.
The cleanliness of her tools was unclear. They didn’t come out of plastic sanitized bags, but the files and buffers did appear to be single use. She used paper towels and fresh cotton balls/pads as needed. She did not wear gloves throughout my manicure but did put them on for my hand massage.
My manicurist according to my online booking was Tenzin. She was friendly and quiet which I don’t mind at all. She accepted venmo for tips and the manicure was charged on my card for $50.
I really want to like this place and I think I could with a different manicurist that pays a bit more attention to detail. I might try again, but I still love my salon in Manhattan a tiny bit more for now.
