Customer Reviews:
Sanitation and cross contamination is a HUGE concern of mine here! My Nail Tech worked on my nails (pedicure) directly on the footrest, which as you can see in my photo was not clean at all and appeared to have dead skin buildup from previous clients. Every salon I have been to has ALWAYS placed a towel down on the footrest for sanitation. Next, the bar-cart of their supplies was also filthy. My Tech touched the tip of the cuticle oil bottle directly on my nails to apply, rather than letting it hover and didn’t sanitize the tip. The same cuticle oil was used on the customer next to me, and her Nail Tech did the same on-contact application. 🤢
Now onto the subpar pedicure. I am a male so sugar scrubs don’t mesh with my leg hair, but I do like gel polish. So I got the Express Pedicure which includes: shape, cuticle trim, foot scrub & polish. Minus the scrub(none of their pedicures come without scrub) but upgrading to gel polish. Every Nail Tech I have ever seen applies alcohol & buffs the nails prior to the base coat to create a rough and dry surface for it to adhere to. My nail tech here didn’t do either, my nails were still wet from shaping and smooth, so I will not be shocked if my gel polish starts lifting. She also ripped the toe separators from my toes VERY aggressively.
My group of 4 waited 10 mins after our appointment time to be seated, which is typically no biggie, but with my pedicure only lasting just over 20 mins(5 mins of which my Nail Tech was trying to find my polish color because she initially pulled the wrong one) the wait was noticeable. After a 15% tip(I typically leave 20-30% for good service) my service was $52. I do not feel like I got ANYWHERE NEAR the value of a $50+ service compared to the dozens of other salons I have been to in the valley for similar or even better service.

I have never had to go back to get my nails fixed before and it was super inconvenient to need to have 3 appointments in the same week. (Totally understand sometimes these things just happen. But the way I was treated is inexcusable) By the end of the last appointment I felt so embarrassed (as I was being observed by various nail techs, who would come and look at my nails, then discuss them amongst themselves whilst staring at me.) It was extremely rude and made me feel increasingly uncomfortable.
By my 3rd visit, I was upset just wanted to get out. the finish of nails were shocking, uneven, bubbly, edges missed. Absolutely no where near the standard that I usually receive at Lacquer.
The tech had asked me if I was happy with them, but it was clear, his request for this was to make a point that he had my confirmation before I left.
I’d given up by this point and on the verge or tears due to the embarrassment of being talked about though-out both “fixing” appointments
Whenever I’m in Arizona, Lacquer was my favorite place to go for my nails. But I do not feel comfortable to go back, and I’m genuinely gutted that I will now have to find a new place, as all my experiences up until now have been great.
The clear conversations that were going on around me and the looks being passed to me brought me to tears. I wanted to feed this back so the nail techs perhaps could be more conscious and respectful to other clients in the future and not make them feel the way they made me feel.
