This is clearly what MANY people would call a DEAD mall. Just admit all the stores have closed down. Sears has been out of business for almost a darn decade if not a decade. Bed Bath & Beyond is out of business as well. Their Kays Jewelry store, Bath & Body Works, JcPenny, Nestle Cookies, Famous Footwear & many more has closed down. The only thing that’s probably keeping these doors open is the darn Ross, TJMAXX, Old Navy, Random Nail shop, Shoe Depot, Maurice, Zumiez, and Claire’s. Heck even the darn Cole Machine is broken! Don’t waste your time coming here.

A pathetic excuse for a mall with more dead space than stores. Some stores that are there don’t even have their name on the mall sign so no one knows they are in business. Wonder why a deal was not made to have REI take over some of the mall instead of building their own location across the street. The mall management needs to figure something out to being it back to life.

Beautiful mall. Unfortunately it is almost completely empty. Sad 😞

Such a big space, but has been mostly closed in the years I’ve lived in Durango. Just a few stores remain – TJ Maxx, Ross, Old Navy, Bed Bath and Beyond (though likely closing soon). Apparently the owners are difficult to work with, have fought the city on various initiatives that would have benefited it (including extending the River Trail behind the mall and allowing new development near by it), and may not be super business savvy as this mall is >90% vacant. The space offers potential – they’d probably do well opening a bowling alley or arcade there.

I almost gave this place three stars instead of four. There are several empty storefronts in it and there are not many kiosks. You also typically don’t see a huge crowd outside of peak shopping times. The location is out of the way for the more touristy and well-visited parts of Durango. They also get a lot of competition from The Big Box discount stores that are also on the south end of town. However, the mall does feel one key role in Durango: it’s probably the best place to do budget shopping instead of paying the tourist prices down on Main Street. For that reason alone it deserves a 4-star rating.
