My daughter’s 16th birthday is Monday. We made an appointment with this company 2 weeks ago. Yes, she changed the style a few times because they couldn’t do what she wanted. However, her final choice could be accommodated. Due to the strict cancellation and late policy we arrived 15 minutes early to the appointment. Manager had to call tech because it was close to the time of the appointment and she still had not arrived. Appointment was at 8:30 AM, tech walked in at 8:33 AM rushing. I calmed and slowed her down explaining to her in great detail what my daughter wanted. She understood and said Ok. I said “are you sure you understand” she said yes.

2 hours later I return to pay, my daughter isn’t done and the way she looked at me, I knew something was wrong. The length of her nails weren’t what she wanted. I asked the tech why did she not follow my directives after she stated she understood. She stated “in 2 days they would break at that length”. IMPOSSIBLE! I have friends and family that have longer length. She was rushing because she was behind. The entire ordeal was justified by her and management. Yeah we got a 20% discount but had to go somewhere else to get her nails what she wanted because Jenny couldn’t get it right.

This establishment does great work. But beware of Jenny “the tech by the door”. She don’t know what she’s doing, doesn’t follow directions and tries to justify her wrong doings. If you have minor children that don’t like confrontation like I do, stay the entire appointment because obviously, they take advantage of it. If I could rate Jenny a negative 50 I would. And Management justifying. Bad taste Cosmo, bad taste. Do better.

I went in today for the first time- on my birthday, with my daughter. I figured treating us to some relaxing pedicures would be a great way to spend the day. We arrived before our appointment time, cause we live an hour away. The receptionist lady seemed really miffed by us needing to wait despite having a huge couch for that purpose.

At our appointment time, we were sat next to each other for in pedicure chairs. My tech was an older lady – who did not understand much English and required assistance from other workers for translation. That is perfectly fine but she did not understand when I told her the water was scalding hot, and she kept forcing my feet in the water. Eventually another tech translated and she was able to put some cold water in the bin.

From there on out the only words I can describe my pedicure was abusive. Every part of the hour hurt in some way. The tech filed my nails but mostly my skin. Cuticle pushers dug into my nail beds. My skin was beat red after taking out of the water. Her method of massage was using her nails to dig into my skin through the latex gloves. She attempted to pop my toes and I finally had to kick and give her a look of “no”. The whole time I just kept hoping it would end cause it was unpleasant. When she started beating on my heels— I was more concerned the same would happen to my kid and mama bear would appear.

Thankfully it was just me.. but that lady needs to tone down her roughness. I realize it’s about the tech you get— but being hit while being massaged by a chair is not relaxing. I think her name was Lilly— and I hope management talks with her.

I came here to try this place out. I usually go to Syracuse Nails and Spa. Personally, I didn’t like the treatment Cosmos have towards young black women, I don’t value being rushed or treated with poor quality treatment because of my age. There are no trendy designs here and the cheap powder polish will eventually snap off in 3 days. I tried this place twice and from both experiences I received poor quality. I also don’t like the unprofessional employees asking for me to take free pictures for my Google review and to falsely lie about safe environmental practices. It is my job on Google to provide honest experiences. My nails are completely damaged and needed a month to recover, which is not normal. Check out my other reviews to find another nail salon in Syracuse. However, this experience will also go on Local Guides Connect. Thank you for reading.

Girl who answered the phone was VERY rude when I asked if they take walk ins and she hung up on me immediately when I nicely told her I’d call around for other locations that offer the services I was looking for(acrylic). Take your money and valued time elsewhere. This person in particular has zero respect. I travel for work and of all the nail salons I’ve been to, I’ve never experienced someone so inconvenienced with receiving a phone call from a customer just asking about times and services.

It was my first time there and the experience was great! My nail tech was friendly, thorough and professional. I got a dip manicure. I will definitely be going back.
