Amazing hike, but not one for the faint of heart! Be prepared for more rock climbing than walking on a clear trail. Beautiful 360 views at the top!

Great morning hike, I went with my family and I was the only one to trust the reviews so I expected it to be hard (which it was). We took the Cholla trail both ways and it was around a 2.5 hour trip. The trail gets progressively harder especially towards the top but it is all worth it. You can see the entire Phoenix/ Scottsdale area from the top and we saw multiple lizards on our descent.

Perfect for a quick workout. There are two main paths that both can be completed at any pace. There is some light bouldering required but most people shouldn’t have a problem. Make sure to pack water. The view at the top is well worth the expenditure.

What an experience! Really nice hike. Personally for me uphill wasn’t too bad however downhill was quite a scary experience due to the steep descent. Wear proper shoes, take your time..stay safe and most importantly enjoy your time!!
I did it at sunrise so wasn’t overly busy and weather was perfect.

Whew this hike was awesome! After reading reviews, I decided to start by going up Echo and down Cholla. I personally would rather climb a steep and rocky incline earlier in the morning before it gets hot and finish with the tamer side of Cholla. It took me just under 1 hour to get to the top and 30 minutes to go down Cholla (I scramble down rocks really fast and ran sometimes). I’d recommend having solid shoes since some rocks are a little slippery due to use, there are parts with little loose rocks, and for climbing rocks in general. I had light hiking gloves which were nice where I had hold onto a rock to go up or butt slide down a rock face. some people without gloves had some minor scratches but they were all good so up to your personal preference. Overall having both hands free is nice. There was a nice breeze and slight clouds but if it was a clear day without wind, it would have been way hotter.
Overall, have good shoes, bring water (preferably in a pack so you can keep your hands free), and take breaks!
