Angel’s Hair and Nails Spa

This place is hit or miss but has been a miss the last three times I’ve gone. It started with them not having any variety in nail types. Just flat nails. I dealt with it but was a bit surprised because most places have curved nails now. Still, not a big deal. I asked if they ever have curved nails, they said they do but they were just out at the time. They encouraged me to come back when they’d have them in a week. I came back and they did not have the nails. It was too late for me to go elsewhere so I just got a fill and dealt with it. Both times I got a pedicure. A couple of weeks after the pedicure, I noticed something dark under my polish on BOTH big toes. I thought maybe it was a smudge from my black socks until the very next day I cracked my nail and saw something black peeking out. I went the next afternoon (today) and explained what happened. The lady there said she would check and blamed the obvious fungus on me. This has NEVER HAPPENED to me and other than them not having my nail shape, I haven’t really had any issues at this shop. So I was shocked that she immediately blamed me for what was clearly not careful pedicure work. To make an already long story shorter, I reported them to the board of health and am now seeking legal action. I don’t want anyone else to get something similar or worse. We’re spending our money, the least they can do is be careful with our services to ensure this doesn’t happen. Now I have to have dark nail polish until this heals and grows out. Yuck!

My nail tech was Kim and she was amazing. I told her what I wanted and she delivered. She kept checking to see if the colors were to my liking. I also did my toes with another amazing nail tech who gave some awesome massages. This place would of gotten a 5 star but they need a little makeover but if you don’t care how the place looks and more how your nails looks then I highly recommend this place.

We recently went back to this place, and my wife was more than happy with the phenomenal job Mimi did.

The good: Prices for the latest trend in nails are fair and right on target. Everything has gone up, and beauty has a price!. There is ample parking and a convenient store next door. I highly recommend making an appointment so the process goes smoothly.

The bad: The waiting time varies depending on what you need and walk-ins, so again, make the appointment. Be patient…

The ugly: Nothing at all.

I highly recommend Mimi as she is very detail oriented and patient. She listens exactly to your needs, and likes are.

Update: I’ve been coming here for a year now, and at this point I trust most to do my nails and my designs. I come in with a picture, and I always leave out happy. I see me rockin with them for the long haul.

I still love the pedicures, but they are hit or miss depending on who does them.

Original: I’m pretty picky with my nails. . And rightfully so for what I tend to pay.. I wanted to try this place out based off the reviews.

#1: all the ladies and young man were SUPER nice. Very welcoming salon.

#2: that was probably the best pedicure I’ve ever had. I’ve never had one with hot stones before.. I chose #3 the deluxe I believe and it was worth it.

#3: my nails… I always get dipped powder.. they did it a little different than what I was used to but it wasn’t overly thick or lumpy so I wasn’t mad at all.. shape was great and cleaned up as it was supposed to be.

#4: my design… and the reason I tend to shop hop.. looking for someone passionate about designing nails.. I showed them a picture of something a little complex and time consuming and I could tell she got a little fatigued towards the end.. hence, making the work a little sloppy..

HOWEVER: my nails were not horrible and I was happy with the work. I would come back for the AMAZING pedicure and when I’m in the mood for SIMPLE nails.

I have been to many different nail salons around Long Beach and this one is definitely a hidden gem! The owner Angel is super sweet and let me come an hour before closing after I called ahead, she helped me pick a color after looking at a design I had shown her and was super friendly, I told her I was getting my nails done for my bday and she ended up playing a birthday song over the speaker, haha. My nail technician was Kim and she did an amazing job, my first time getting ombré style and a design. She used the dip powder and I got acrylic nails, she took her time and wanted to make sure I was happy with the final product. Super fun that this powder glows in the dark too! Kim was also super sweet and we had a fun conversation. Everyone at this place is super welcoming and friendly. This is definitely my new spot!
