Customer Reviews:
I’m docking one star for cleanliness, though it should probably be two. It’s very clear that they don’t clean their tools after every client. I’ve watched them dig in their pockets and fish around in dusty Altoid tins for drill bits, and there’s no way the acrylic brushes and clippers were sanitized before they used them based on the look and locations of them. The nail brushes at the sinks are…questionable at best. Let’s just say I’ll never get a pedicure here.
The first two times, Sara did my nails. I went in for fills on an acrylic set I’d gotten out of state. She was thorough and attentive to her work, and while the shape wasn’t my favorite (I asked for almond and got more round) she did a really great job overall. The nails lasted 3 weeks, and I appreciated that she was gentle. She even made sure they were level with my cuticle, and I’ve had a lot of acrylic sets look very raised, so I loved that attention to detail. She and the general friendliness of all the techs here are the sole reason this review isn’t a lower rating.
This last time was an honestly awful experience, so minus another star. Daisy was nice and I loved that she liked to talk to me (most nail techs, including Sara, are silent, and I wish we’d chat more). I was excited at how friendly she was at first, and I liked that she had good advice on which service to use on my nails that no longer needed extensions (acrylic overlay instead of dip…honestly so much better!) but my confidence in her didn’t last. She was very heavy handed with the drill, and aggressive with my hands. She ran the drill so hard and long into my nail beds that she burned me multiple times, and then scolded me for flinching and pulling away. She filed so close to the sides of my nails that it was painful, and I have one finger that got a drill burn and an over file in the same spot, and I’m lucky it’s not infected because it hurt for days and is still lightly tender if I press on the area. She pulled and twisted my fingers in ways that would hurt most people, but luckily I’m double jointed so I was ok, just uncomfortable. When she applied the gel polish, I could see how thick it was compared to when Sara did it, but I didn’t think much of it. I should have. I also watched her notice a big fuzz from the hand towel and then paint right over it rather than remove it, then she blamed me for “smudging” the nail when I mentioned that it looked weird later. The day after, the polish in one nail began to wrinkle and then literally slid—yes, SLID—off my nails, revealing a still wet layer underneath that wouldn’t dry and got all over my hands and work. I wanted to go get it fixed but I had a business trip that evening and didn’t have the time. Over the course of the week of my trip, the solid colored nails that didn’t wrinkle and slide off flaked or peeled. I only have two nails on each hand that didn’t get damaged because they have glitter gel polish. The only truly positive thing I have to say about my nails this time is the shape is perfect, exactly what I wanted. Oh! Daisy did give me the file and the buffer she used on me and told me they were mine and to bring back next time, so that’s a point to her for sanitation, I suppose.
I should probably go in and ask for a refund or at least a free fix, but I’ll have to wait til Tuesday since I just got back and they’re closed Mondays. I’m honestly not sure I want to have them fix them, this last time was so bad. My SIL does her own nails and when I told her she was shocked and said my last experience and the resulting current nails were completely unacceptable, and I should get my money back. I’ll have to see. I’m nervous posting pictures since it will give me away, but it’s necessary to see just how bad they are.
The techs are all very nice here, and I hate leaving a bad review on a small business, but there could be a lot of improvement made at this salon, starting with sanitation, and ending with some retraining.
