While the owner is extremely talented and I love their work, I had an uncomfortable experience with them when they joined midway through my appointment. The nail artist asked for my input at different points, and the owner jumped in and became very frustrated and short with me when I politely gave my opinion about colors and design. I had got the impression that it was supposed to be a collaborative process, so I was taken aback when the owner rudely told me that it was a discounted manicure, and I needed to let the artist do what she wanted and “not be so picky”. I was unaware that it was supposed to be a set design or that it was discounted. I would have gladly paid whatever to customize the simple design and colors to my liking. In fact, I thought it was a $70 manicure and ended up paying only $50 so I left a 50% tip–I definitely wasn’t trying to grift them. I left feeling dismayed.
Overall, I loved the result, but I felt the owner could have handled the situation more kindly and tactfully.
