I do not recommend this salon for anyone with curly, thick, and/or coarse hair.

I will preface this by saying that I have been getting curly cuts and color for over 4 years from a stylist that was a master DevaCurl stylist as well as a Rezo stylist, but I moved here recently and needed to find a new stylist/salon.

Minor annoyances:
– My appointment was scheduled for 12:15 and I arrived a little early. I waited for over 30 minutes without a word from anyone beyond the initial check in. My free time is very valuable to me, and I hate for people to waste it. I decided that I’d wait till 12:45 (30 min past official appointment time) to leave. The stylist came to get me at 12:40.

– Due to a consultation, it had been an hour past my scheduled appointment time before my cut even started. During this consultation, the stylist and I signed a ‘contract’ about what I had asked for. Which was pointless, since the color ended up being nothing like what I asked for (details in next bullet point).

Major issues:
– I already had caramel highlights, but they had grown out so I need my roots touched up. We agreed upon blended, caramel highlights to match to my ends. Again, I have VERY thick hair. By the time the last foils went on, it had been at least 45 minutes since the first ones went on. Then the stylist just disappeared for 30 minutes. Not only are the highlights super chunky, but half of my hair is WAY lighter (almost platinum) than the rest of my hair (ends and new highlights). Also, I love to style my hair in double braids and there is a giant dark spot in the center, back of my head.

– Styling was absolutely terrible. The stylist still tried to ‘coach’ me on styling and half of what she said was opposite of how my previous stylist styled my type 3, high porosity hair. Once she was done, my hair was so frizzy. My hair with absolutely no product is less frizzy that what I saw in the mirror at the end of my appointment.

– I was really disappointed to be sent home with wet hair. I know diffusing takes a long time, but DevaCurl makes hooded diffusers. Curly hair looks completely different dry than damp, and it’s almost guaranteed that the cut is going to need a little fine tuning after styling and drying – which would require your curly customers to either fix it at home or come back in.

– I paid $60 more (before tip) for my color touch up and cut than I used to pay my previous stylist who was actually certified and the owner of the salon. I fully believe in paying more for better quality, but this was no where near the quality of what I am used to and I didn’t even receive the agreed upon result.

Overall, I wish I would have spoken up at the salon. Honestly, I was in shock and on the verge of tears with how horrible my hair looked. I really hope the salon invests more in training and equipment to better serve curly clients.

Always nice and clean with modern style. Pretty easy parking. Located in strip mall. Espresso drinks are freshly made and on the house for customers. Go see Brandy, she is professional, friendly, and knows how to cut and style any kind of hair.

My wife and I are on vacation and we enjoy a pedicure together every now and then. We were recommended a couple of other locations, but settled on the ‘spa pedicure’ option at cloud 9. Below is the description from their site in quotations and my experience point by point.

“Spa Pedicure

Duration: 60 min $68

Our Spa Pedicure is a 60 minute treatment that adds an extra step of exfoliation and a longer massage on to our Jetted Pedicure.”

Scheduled at 4pm, started at 415pm, finished at 5pm. Sub-45 minutes with a weak water jet.

” The exfoliation step utilizes sea serum to eliminate tough calluses on the heels and balls of the feet.  ”

Accurate; however, no explanation of the steps were provided. Further their pumice pads are not coarse with very little functionality.

“We also add on additional foot and lower leg massage time, as well as an additional moisturizing step to ensure the relief of dry damaged skin.”

Zero lower leg massage, period. Neither my wife or myself recieved any lower leg massage. Short (please see 45 minutes from the above point) and weak foot massage. End of day pedicure might be an excuse for this, but we paid the full price.

” This product contains a complex of aloe, allantoin and cucumber extract that soothes, refreshes and hydrates.  As with all pedicures, we will finish with a polish color of your choice.”

At most pedicure sessions I’ve experienced with my wife, the nail polish step for her allows for a slightly longer foot massage for myself to match the time, as I don’t require polish. Not so here.

So all in all, we got pedicures. The worth of it was the standard option, not the Spa upgrade, so reduce to $60 and factoring in the shortened time $45. Being overcharged for sub-par service was a little aggravating, then being asked for a tip pushed the experience here to frustrating.
