I recently had a hair crisis (in which I’d taken a dip in a hot tub that I didn’t know was full of chemicals so strong, it dissolved several inches of my hair). I’ve come to mistrust a lot of over-the-counter hair damage remedies, and Bella Bethesda Salon came up on my local search for products.

I’m a traveling musician on a budget, and (not having a gig that day) wandered in wearing my street clothes and no makeup. I’ve been to plenty of salons where the employees were condescending to me under such conditions, but not these folks. They were sympathetic, respectful, and helped me pick the right product to help preserve my remaining length. I can feel a difference already with what I bought, and feel much better about looking my best for the remainder of this tour.

I have had multiple negative experiences with Bella Bethesda. My haircuts have been fine (for curly hair) but I went yesterday and a haircut and highlights took 4 hours! The highlights took 3 hours- longer than I have ever had to wait and the stylist ignored my requests and kept pushing for neutral toning even though I wanted warmer highlights. Furthermore, I don’t notice much of a difference with my hair and the cut is very uneven and choppy. The entire thing for cut and highlights cost $433 with tip which is extortionate. Definitely not worth the cost especially because I have had repeated experiences.

Bella is a very friendly , cheerful and welcoming salon! The space is beautiful and very clean and relaxing. Marea did an amazing job with my hair and I enjoyed fun conversation with her as well as other staff members. I highly recommend Bella Bethesda!
