This place knows their stuff. I completely screwed up my hair with some product purchased at a store. I called begging for a quick appointment; I couldn’t go to work with orange hair! They fit me in that day and with great skill erased my error. This is a full service salon and I booked additional appointments for other services. Thank you Shear Perfection!!

Marie at Shear Perfection has been cutting & styling my hair since I was a kid, and now she cuts my son’s (15), cut, colors, styles, and advises my daughter’s (19), and cuts my husband’s…she’s amazing and is family! She runs her salon with high standards and integrity with a hometown feel where you can feel comfortable and respected. All of her stylist are held to the same expectations and are amazing at what they do!!

Its been a while since I’ve been here as I have moved closer to Seattle, but my experience here has profoundly changed the way I view myself in a negative way and as I go to look for a haircut for myself again I am reminded of my experiences here.

Summary: I am a man and came here to get my hair dyed. During the dye I joked about my hair thinning/loss and the stylist said I had an ugly head and would look bad as a bald person. I responded “Wow that was a little harsh” and there was no response from her or other stylists near me. This single event took me from at peace with the natural process occurring to me to stressed, ashamed, and afraid of having my hair loss/thinning noticed by others, ultimately making me afraid of getting haircuts and receiving the same comments from other stylists. If you are a man experincing hair loss/thinning consider going somewhere else.

Full Review: I came here twice to get my hair dyed silver. The first time was great and the stylists did an amazing job walking me through all the steps it would take to get my hair dyed and helped me picking the color I wanted. The processes was painless, simple, and made easy by the stylist helping me who had their own hair dyed blue at the time. They were good at making conversation while the bleach set and overall it was a pleasant experience.

Two years later my hair had grown out fully, the worst of covid had passed and I was vaccinated and ready to have my hair done again. Since I knew what to expect I was able to be more direct with what I wanted and they didn’t hold my hand as much, which was fine. My hair was bleached and I asked for silver again and the stylist (a different person this time), did not even bring out the colors to pick from. They started the process on my hair and while I was getting the color put on I joked about how my hair was getting thin but I wanted to have fun while I still had some. The stylist made a comment that when I eventually am bald that I would not have a good looking head, similar to their husband. I was floored, honestly. Shocked. I said that was kind of harsh while nervously laughing, expecting her to joke back. But from what I could tell no one said anything, nor did the other stylists. I sat quietly in front of the mirror but the experience was ruined for me. I don’t remember talking much after that because I was trying to push down how awkward that made me feel. I paid and left but the color wasn’t exactly what I wanted, more blonde than I expected but still acceptable enough that I didn’t go back for corrections.

To this day when I look at myself in the mirror and, while I still have hair, I try to imagine myself bald (since it will eventually be that way for me) and remind myself that I have a partner and I will be happy and handsome in her eyes. But there will always be that echo of the stylists words there in my mind reminding me that to many people, being bald is ugly. Going bald is bad and that I should be afraid. Before this I had accepted that this was the genetic process happening to me and this was just life. I was almost looking forward to being bald like my dad, maybe getting some tattoos and growing out my face hair. But afterwards this sentiment has become a nagging leech to my self confidence that I can’t shake, all because one of the stylists here couldn’t keep a comment on my future appearance to herself, or at least couldn’t realize they made a mistake and backtrack or say they were joking.

If you are a man going here or someone experiencing hair loss/thinning, consider maybe going somewhere else. Not sure if the stylist who helps me still works here but I would not want a judgemental environment like that encouraged for a sensitive topic like hair loss/thinning.

First visit – upon calling, they worked me into their schedule in less than an hour!!! Kathy understood exactly what I wanted. I have thick, long and curly hair. She did a wonderful job and framed my face lightly, got rid of bulky areas in the back and didn’t remove too much of the length. I also had a brow and lip wax from her. She was very professional and gentle. She took direction very well. At my request, she let me try a curling cream and I purchased a bottle. It was a wonderful experience and I am glad to say that I have finally found a great stylist who can take care of my needs!
