Customer Reviews:
Unfortunately, when I got home there were no highlights in my hair…see photo. The reason why I won’t return to O’Brien’s is that when the time came to pay…there was quite a discrepancy in fees advertised and the fees charged. On the website, partial highlights are listed as $40+ for my short hair. That is what I normally spend in a salon. I was charged $60 for the partial highlights. The woman at the register was exceptionally rude and went on about bowls and toner. I’m not a beautician and I don’t know (nor do I care) about mixing chemicals and “bowls”. I just want transparency about costs. And not transparent highights. When I got home, besides the invisible highlights, I found I was charged an additional $2. Again, if you’re not up front about costs, you look shady.
This was my second time going to the clinic on 7/27/23 and it was better than my first time earlier in the year. I knew the stylist I had previously worked with had graduated, so I was ready to be taken care of by a new stylist-in-training.
When I arrived I was greeted by Joel. There was an overall excitement in the clinic with the smiles on faces of everyone. Joel not only had an infectious smile, but he added a bubbly flair to make me comfortable with him within the first few minutes of being there. He explained things as he went along. He explained the different types of hair products and suggested shampoo and conditioner that would support my type of hair. He clarified on multiple occasions if the amount the was looking to cut what I was looking for. On a couple of times I said I wanted more cut, but he explained why he was suggesting “let’s cut it a little bit longer”…I can always cut more off, but I don’t think you’d like me to try to glue the pieces back on. I’m glad I listened to his suggestions, my cut came out exactly what I was looking for.
I appreciated being in a place with a collegial atmosphere amongst the instructors and students. I appreciated to have Joel treat me as though I was most important person in that room. When guidance or support was needed, either Joel or the other student introduce themselves to me and then asking if it was okay to offer their input to Joel.
I felt everyone wanted each other to succeed.
I know I walked out of the clinic feeling really good with the information on how to better take care of my hair but I loved my ‘new-do.”
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this clinic to anyone. I can’t wait to go back!
