I have tricky hair, I have a lot of hair but it’s pretty fine in the front and more coarse in the back. I’ve had a lot of people mess up my hair and unfortunately this was one of the places. I had asked before hand for a very experienced stylist and was reassured I had one. I won’t post who it was because she was very nice but just not experienced enough for some one with tricky hair but continued to try and tell me my hair was okay when I could just tell it wasn’t but I didn’t have the words to try to explain how to fix it so I just accepted it and found another place to go to. This salon would be good for someone with very basic easy to manage hair. It’s also pretty expensive. End result was not at all what I wanted and just was not good. For reference I asked for a small layer with a U shape.

I was in Augusta and figured my only option for a cut was at Supercuts. Not only was Supercuts closed, but Green with Envy Salon & Spa was right NEXT door! I had not yet heard of them. They were very friendly and were able to fit me in for a half hour later. My stylist was Aliya and she was wonderful. She did a dry cut on my curly hair and it came out fantastic! I will be driving the 80 minutes to come back here. Give it a try 🙂

Made a same day appointment online for a kids cut, hoping it would turn out okay. My son has ADHD and doesn’t like to get his hair cut at all. Got there and everyone was super friendly. We met Emily, who asked if we’d want clippers or just scissors, which made him feel at ease. He is scared of clippers due to sensory issues. She talked and talked with my little chatterbox, and never got upset when he squirmed. He left saying he liked her and I was thrilled as it was the best haircut he’s ever had. She didn’t cut his hair as basic and quickly as possible, she took the time to do it right and it showed. Will definitely be going back!

I called yesterday and they were able to get me in today, I was so grateful Gabrielle had an opening so last minute. The salon itself is very inviting, clean and well kept. A big part of the experience is the atmosphere and these guys nailed it! Gabrielle was so kind, uplifting and cheerful. You could really tell she wanted to be there and loves her work. She gave great advice and compliments and made me feel so beautiful! I felt like I could trust all of her opinions even being the first time meeting her. I hadn’t changed my hairstyle in a long time and she did something new for me that I LOVED and sent me with some great product recommendations. Thanks for a wonderful visit Gabrielle, see you in a couple months!

I was traveling through the state and was tired of having my hair look like a giant Q-Tip, so I did a quick search for potential hair salon that a man could get a decent haircut at. While there might be plenty of barbershops around, there is only one Barrett Benedict. And her talent is the reason why I am writing this essay.
First off, I want to remark that there is a hairstyling school run by Aveda in Augusta, Maine, where new stylists and barbers will train to be future successful workers. Barrett works at this school and it shows in her communication style.
I have thin, blonde hair, and I have a particular haircut preference that can be messed up if I do not communicate my preferences right. Barrett worked with me, by both taking the reins and taking a step back and letting me guide the process of describing what I would like done. It was a simple cut, but had enough detail that it could look messy.
However, Barrett was able to use her own creativity to make something look good enough that I got a compliment right after, “How was boot camp?” A person said, and my partner said it looked good.
Barrett listened to my concerns about thin hair and added some product that gave it a thicker look. She also taught me how to apply it in a way that made sense, because many other stylists are not as specific and teacher-centric as she is.
If you are looking for a good cut, decent conversation, and a renewed sense of purpose, I recommend Green With Envy Salon in Augusta, Maine. I also recommend Barrett as a the kind of person that makes a city great, and Augusta is better with her there
