Customer Reviews:
I asked Sophia to do ANY DESIGN she wanted and this was the beautiful artwork she created for me. I feel excited to have a Sophia original and will wear my nails proudly. Thank you. I have a Pic
He left me with my nails soaking while he started with another customer. After sitting there for almost an hour a lady came to start on my nails. She did not seem to know what she was doing and when the acrylic wasn’t drying she kept adding more layers and it ended up being super thick and squishy.
I was in there for almost 4 hours and left with thick, completely bendable nails that were not the right shape. I very easily peeled my thump nail off not 2 hours after getting them done.
So I went in Essence because my normal place was booked. Nails are an essential part of my job because I use my hands all day and I get them faithfully done every 2-3 weeks. I probably spend around $3000 a year on them. So I asked for a design like I occasionally do and was told it would be $25. Okay cool.
Well the design was attempted on one hand but not able to be executed. Instead of removing it to start over when she messed up she just kept adding layers of gel on top of gel making it thick, goopy, and distorted. It just looked nothing like the picture I asked her to please just remove it and do a solid color.
She got mad I asked this and agitated started drilling over my cuticles roughly with the drill and at the end slams the top coat polish lid on the bottle and tells me it’s $80.
I asked how much a fill was and she started to say $45 and then cut herself off and says “You pay $25 for design it’s not my fault you didn’t like it you wasted my time.”
So I told her I didn’t like it because it looked nothing like that picture and she couldn’t provide the service. I went to the counter and repeatedly said I didn’t want to pay for something I didn’t get. Well turns out she was the owner of the place, Jolie, she embarrassed me in front of the whole nail salon. And I had to pay $80 for what I’m about to post.
When you’re looking at the pictures the first is what I asked for and the rest are what I left with. Just take note that all the left over polish from the attempted design in still on my nails and in her attempt to charge me for something she knows wasn’t right she forgot to put top coat on my entire left hand so one had is matte and the other is shiny making them 2 different colors.
Shame on you Jolie.
The nail salon is really nice, however the unpleasant nail tech and the questionable cleanliness of the location are the two factors of why I would not be going back.
Everybody has their off days but I really just felt super uncomfortable with the nail tech. He broke a nail of mine and showed no empathy, he sloppily painted thick coats of polish and forgot simple steps like cuticle oil. Maybe it’s because I wanted a regular manicure?? His hands felt like sand paper and super dry , just like his personality today. He was not friendly at all. Really just made me want to leave, which I should have. Like I said , we all have bad days but I believe a certain level of professionalism should be a standard. Don’t want to converse, fine.. but moisturize your hands and at least do a manicure proficiently.
As for the salon it self. It’s really nice. It’s open, modern and nicely decorated. There were two people in the front that smiled and seemed nice. However I completely question the cleanliness of this location. Every desk has a clear plastic divider, separating the tech and customer. EVERY single clear plastic screen was DIRTY. On the desks there seems to be lots of acrylic dust that doesn’t get cleaned. The table where I dry my nails was FILTHY. When my nails finished drying there was a bunch of God knows what on my hands. Felt like some acrylic dust and actual dust. . I didn’t want to keep looking around cause I was afraid of what I would find.
I don’t foresee myself getting my nails done here and I would not recommend my loved ones to come here either as the standard of cleanliness seems rather borderline sufficient.
Update: my nails chipped not even 24 hours later.
